PRINCE PURAN!!

Well our great country has lost it completely...
For the past two days the whole nation has been going GA - GA over the fate of a five year old boy who fell into a boring well... the country came to a halt (or so you were made to believe by the news channels) as the Army and Administration made all attempts to extricate the young lad out of his predicament...
Don't take me a sadist or an insensitive lout for saying this but there is a limit to everything... the news channels have made it their business to sensationalize each and every aspect of human existence in India, be it civil, social or political...
A few days back we were having the love affair of a Professor and his student being aired live into our living rooms... I mean there is a limit to the releveance and importance that ought to be bestowed on such alleged sensational pieces.
The Indian viewer mentality is changing to that of a vulutre... picking and prodding at the carion of other people's sufering / life... The channels had a field day airing viewer messages and phonecalls at prime time... I mean how low can us Indians get... just to get our name announced on TV... and the technology has made it possible for us to do so at a mere cost of Rs. 4/- (that's the cost for sending an SMS on one of those four digit numbers).
While the media went beserk with their act, the politicos descended on the village to have their pound of flesh (read publicity!!)
Menawhile, elsewhere in India another suspect of the Bombay Local Train Blast Case was arrested and a rally was conducted at India Gate, demanding justice in the Priyadarshani Mattoo murder and rape case... but who cares... the Bombay blast is old story... who cares if more than 200 people died just a couple of weeks back and who's this Priyadarshani Mattoo anyway... isn't she like old story...
While the media went crazy about their newest "Prince Charming" India carried on as it usually does...
Who cares whether a lesson is learnt from this incident and regulations compulsorily directing all boring wells to be covered is enforced not only in Haryana but the rest of India... today's Prince will again be a daily wage labourers son tomorrow who would find it difficult to eek out a livelihood, leave alone realize the high dreams of a good education and a stable job fifteen years hence.
Maybe its got something to do with our mentality... "SAB CHALTA HAI!!" we Indians compromise with everything... the inflation, the terroist attacks, the corrupt and useless politicians, the irresponsible media...
Sorry to say this... but this comes straight from the heart of an Indian who not only cries for Prince but also for the victims of the Mumbai blasts, Priyadarshani Mattoo... and more so for his beloved motherland.
