WARNING!!!

THIS IS TO INFORM ALL STUDENTS OF ARMY INSTITUTE OF LAW, MOHALI THAT THE COLLEGE IN ORDER TO INTRODUCE THE SCHOOL TRADITION OF HOLDING PTA MEETINGS HAS RESORTED TO UNDERHAND TRICKS LIKE SENDING VAGUE AND "GENERAL LETTERS" TO STUDENT'S HOMES WRITTEN IN A LOOSELY WORDED MANNER WHICH TRIES TO IMPLY THAT THEIR WARD HAS SHORTAGE OF ATTENDANCE, HAS POOR ACADEMIC RECORD AND IS INVOLVED IN ACTS OF INDISCIPLINE.
THIS IRRESPONSIBLE ACT OF COLLEGE IN TRYING BELOW THE BELT TACTICS TO ENSURE MAXIMUM RESPONSE FROM PARENTS HAS CREATED QUITE A FURORE IN MOST HOMES WITH THE PARENT CHILD RELATIONSHIP SEEING AN ALL TIME LOW.
ALL AILIANS WHO READ THIS ARE HEREBY REQUESTED TO INFORM THEIR PARENTS OF THE EXACT SITUATION SO THAT PARENTS DO NOT GET UNNECESSARILY PERTURBED.
THIS IS THE WORSE THAT THIS COLLEGE CAN DO.

HEY ANNA

OYE ANNA I JUST TRIED PUTTING ADS ON MY SITE THROUGH GOOGLE AD SENSE. THEY SAY THEY HAVE ALREADY SENT ITS EVALUATION TO YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS. HEY WHAT'S YOUR SCAM MAN??

I won my first case

Some timeback in March, I had filed my first complaint at Punjab State Human Rights Commission requesting the Commission to take cognisance of the poor and contaminated water supply to urban areas of Punjab particularly Pathankot which had led to anout break of Jaundice.
My Complaint was taken up by a Full Bench of the Commission, and as it was something generic in nature that effected the whole of Punjab, directions were given to Principal Secretary, Punjab to look into the matter and give necessary directions regarding the same.
It felt good to have done something good. In a place that breeds mediocrisy, this is my attempt at showing that I am different, that I shall not trudge the path the everybody else treads for
"BEATEN PATHS ARE FOR BEATEN MEN".

Five Point Someone

Just finished up with this... The story deals with the trials and tribulations of three five pointers (GPA) at IIT. In the big bad world of jobs and competition, they do not stand a chance with such a dismal performance and are labelled "UNDER ACHIEVERS".

There life turns from one tight corner to another. Chetan Bhagat, himself being an IITian relates better to the life of a hard pressed IIT student and has brought it forth beautifully in the book.

Hell, its a good read, and moreover, IITians are not so different from us, they have the same doubts, the same urges, the same insecurities...

Good Read all in all.

The Hungry Tide

Just finished off with The Hungry Tide, written in true Amitav Ghosh style (for the uninitiated, Amitav Ghosh lays lots of stress on characterisation and in depth research of the subject he writes on).
The story starts with Piyali Roy, a marine biologist and Kanai Dutta, a successful entrepreneur crossing each other paths at the head of the tide country (Sunderbans), both there for their own specific purposes, for fighting their own ghosts and dragons.
The story takes many breathtaking twists and turns in the meandering Ganges Delta with the interweaving of characters like Fokir, Nilima etc.
The beauty in Ghosh's writing is that you can actually find yourself in character when reading the book. The aims and aspirations of Moyna is something that all of us can relate to... the love of the life that Fokir leads and the adamance he shows for letting things be, the way they are is also another beautiful insight in the human character.
Nirmal Bose's thwarted attempts at revolution at the fag end of his life is also characteristic of the one last ditch effort that humans make to uphold their morals and values at the ebb of life.
A must read who is into Good Contemporary Indian Fiction.

We...The people...

A few of my batchmates have taken a new initiative to start with a new project to make their legal education more meaningful to be of some help to the society.
I must say its a novel idea but it has not been able to generate any inrerest right now. The beauty of the idea does not only lie in the intention behind it, but the way it is presented. There would be many who think the same way but need to be brought out of their shell.
When we think of legal aid from a law student's perspective, we cannot work without observing the South African and the NLS model of it, which has proved that such initiatives have never had mass appeal, they have always started as individual efforts and have been scoffed at in the beginning.
So, its no big deal to be misunderstood and cool to be laughed at, coz most of them who laugh haven't done anything worthwhile themselves.
This post is dedicated to Shruti and Lalita who had the initiative to voice their apprehensions regarding the same.
I would like to take this opportunity to request anyone who reads this post to suggest practical ways of how to go about the thing. Plz put your name at the end of the comment if U R an AILIAN. I'd really like to talk to you personally regarding the same.
THANX a LOT
P.S. - Read this speech of the President of India given on Seminar of Judicial Reforms, if you have the time.

I'm Back

Hello people,
The trip to Delhi was good. It was fun to hear the bigwigs speak. One thing that I am certain of now that it is not just contacts that you require to succeed. It is your knowledge and will to work hard that clinch the deal. And telling you frankly, we as a community don't put in even half as much effort as is required.
Do you know that students at Harvard and Stanford read an average of 300 pages to prepare for a lecture. And how many do we read??? Well the result is in front of us...
